If you are reading this, I would like to welcome you to my new website, the Rock Subculture Journal.  As part of this welcome message (and to avoid having to come up with a way to say the same thing twice, this article borrows from the two “About” pages I published on this site – one is about me, Jason DeBord, and the other is about the Rock Subculture Journal (RSJ).  [note: in case you are wondering, that is me in the photo with the legendary Steve Stevens over my shoulder] [Read more…]

February 9, 2012 by Jason DeBord 3 Comments

Following last night’s Coldplay iHeartRadio benefit concert at Club Nokia, I was lucky enough to share a pair of tickets with another Coldplay fan who won them from The World Famous KROQ for a special Jimmy Kimmel Live! outdoor mini-concert / block party (or “bloq” party) behind the El Capitan Theater, where the regular show is shot in studio. Some of the songs performed at this concert will be broadcast on a special post Academy Award special of the JKL! show, following the Oscars telecast. This concert was originally scheduled for February 7, 2012, and rescheduled for tonight, February 9th.

December 28, 2010 by Jason DeBord Leave a Comment

England Journal: Day Six. Today was the first day of the trip I didn’t need to be somewhere by a certain time, so that was a relief. I used the opportunity to have a halfway decent night’s sleep (over three hours!). Both Oz and Carrie left late night/early morning to catch their respective flights out. Unfortunately, around the time I was planning to check out of the house, I received a text from Carrie that powerlines related to the train system had come down, and her train was stalled on the tracks.
