Thanks for hanging out with us tonight.” Zach Carothers, in preface to the encore to their show at Grand Theatre at Grand Sierra Resort and Casino on Wednesday night. The band put on an electric show that impressed not only with their unique sound but a spectacle of visuals and lasers. They even had warnings in many forms before the show about the latter… and a pre-set disclaimer about their overall lack of banter. Coupled with a drumhead featuring Weird Al Yankovic, it was clear from the start that Portugal. Portugal. The Man Bringing “Woodstock” To The World in 2018; Next Stop Grand Sierra Theater in Reno
Portugal. The Man earned their second Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for 2017’s Woodstock. After a short break, they will pick up their massive world tour in 2018 on April 11th with at one of my favorite venues, Grand Sierra Theatre at Grand Sierra Resort and Casino in Reno. show a Not one to rest on their laurels, however, the experimental rockers have expanded their already massive 2018 world tour with additional shows in the US and Europe. As with my 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 Year in Review features, this article looks back on a year of music with a summary of the highlights. This is my attempt to (subjectively) share my favorites of the year, from live shows to new songs and albums. You can also check out my Top 100 Concert Photos of 2017 in that separate article.
The Top 50 Best Songs of 2013 (So Far…) – A Rock Subculture Journal Editorial
This feature is really born out of my own music playlists… I thought I would take my latest current playlist and break it down to music that was published in 2013 and limit it to 50 songs. Also, the songs have to be off of albums that came out in 2013 (not singles released in 2013 for albums that debuted in 2012). My only other restriction was limiting it to no more than one song per artist. Oh, and no covers… Included is a lot of music that I enjoy that likely include artists that some readers have never heard of, so hopefully this will result in some people finding new music and new artists.
