Hotel/Resort Review: The Fairmont Kea Lani – Maui, Hawaii

Fairmont-Kea-Lani--Maui-Hawaii-Hotel-Resort-Review-TripAdvisor-Photos-FI

This is part of a continuing series of my impressions and experiences staying at various hotels and resorts while traveling to attend concerts worldwide. This stay was during my recent trip to Maui in December 2014. This review is for The Fairmont Kea Lani in Wailea.

Booking Source: Hotwire
Overall Rating: 5/5 [Note: Score is totally subjective based on price, location, and comparison to “like” properties within same area and price range]

This was one night added on to a longer stay in Maui – a chance for a brief revisit to The Fairmont Kea Lani, which I stayed at many, many years ago.

Wailea has in my opinion the most beautiful beaches on Maui (and, by extension, all of Hawaii).  The sand is like baby powder, and the ocean a calm, warm bath.

There are a handful of truly high end properties all in the same general area – the Grand Wailea, The Four Season Maui, and The Fairmont Kea Lani.

I’ve stayed at The Four Seasons a number of times (probably my favorite hotel in the world, but very pricey) and I’ve walked the property at the Grand Wailea but never stayed there (beautiful but too kid-oriented for me – it’s like Disneyland in Hawaii).

The Fairmont has the class and amenities of the Four Seasons, but is relatively more economical to stay.  I was also lucky enough to find a great rate on Hotwire, so my only regret was that I couldn’t extend my stay to spend more than one night – it was really quite a tease, in fact.

Check-in was smooth and easy, and every member of the staff we interacted with was top notch.

The room itself was spacious and truly amazing, with a large balcony and beautiful views.

There are a number of restaurants on site, and we had dinner at one of them and the food and service was excellent.

I really can’t wait to return for a longer visit – this ranks as one of the top two places to stay in Maui for me.  Highest recommendation.

Below are some photos taken during my stay:
